Neighborhood Watch - Burglaries

There have been a few burglaries in the city recently.  The suspects are looking for easy targets like wallets and/or purses in plain view.  They haven't been destroying property to get to the goods, but they won't hesitate to crawl through an open house/business window or open an unlocked car to get to what they want.  Avoid leaving important items in plain view and use your locks.

Please be watchful and report any suspicious activity to Washington County Dispatch at 634-5730.

Thanks

ATVs in Town

With the deer hunts and other activities approaching, there is always an increase of ATVs on the roads in town.  I just wanted to send a quick reminder to those that may be riding.   The city ordinance that allows off road vehicles on the roadway was created for our convenience.  It allows us to ride ATVs on the city streets to the trails leaving town.  It would be kind of silly to load your four wheeler in a truck just so you could unload it three or four blocks away to go riding.  PLEASE don't abuse the ordinance, I would hate to lose it.

Reminders:
-Speed limit of 25 MPH
-Riders must be at least eight (8) years old and escorted by a licensed responsible adult  (within earshot)
-Helmets are required (under 18 years old)
-Riders are allowed to cross Main Street, but not ride on it
-Riders should stay on access roads (100 North, 400 East, Diagonal, 200 West, 200 East and Center Street) See the City Office for the full list of the approved ATV access roads.

Also, the city property located on the corner of 400 South and 400 East, we ask that you don't ride ATVs on the property any longer.

Thanks

Travel is done for several reasons - it could be a quick get away for fun and pleasure, a business related journey or a long vacation to visit other states or countries.
Some people prefer not to make too many plans when they travel so that they may create a more free and spontaneous adventure. This certainly has its perks, but it is always imperative to plan ahead for the sake of safety. Figure out what type of transportation methods you will be using while in an unfamiliar area. You may prefer to take your own vehicle, rent a car or rely on public transport services, but whichever mode you choose you should make every effort to ensure that your travel will be safe at all times.
In the following articles we will discuss some tips to make sure your time away is a fun and enjoyable experience. It is important to make sure you know how to protect yourself while you are away, and to take precautions so that you do not return to a home that has been broken into and burglarized.

Enterprise is Awesome!

I was just thinking as my kids were taking up the entire road with their tricycle, scooter, bicycles and other objects they ride on, that we live in a great place.  I am grateful that most of our community is watchful when my kids forget to be.
